Network Systems Manager The Ohio State University 1997 to 2006 Managed ALL IT functions for single department with approximately 100 users and 10 sites. Managed network LAN/WAN environments using TCP/IP protocol, Ethernet, switches, hubs and firewalls (Cisco), and containing MS Exchange Server email system, Oracle & SQL databases, Citrix/terminal services, and other services. Managed installations, upgrades, troubleshooting, and configuration of all network servers, Cisco Firewalls and Switches, PC’s, and wireless devices. Supplied Network and PC help, training and support. Provided direct supervision over IS staff. Provided more indirect supervision and management of other personnel resources. Anticipated and assessed client needs. Prevented and eliminated many obstacles. Effectively communicated policies, important information and procedures to staff with various education, backgrounds, and levels within the organization. Handled all IT Purchasing, utilizing the PeopleSoft system to coordinate purchasing activities. Conducted negotiations with vendors. Managed maintenance agreements, consultant services as well as deliveries and returns. Negotiated the disposal or salvage of surplus equipment. Ensures responsible, ethical, and fiscally minded purchasing practices. Plans and forecasts budget for IT needs. Project management of projects including web site development, network revamping, changed security administration, and integration/interconnection with other systems and organizations. Data extraction from systems and databases as well as analysis and reporting. Manages IS staff. Performs as backup on many tasks related to HR and payroll activities including mediation, hiring, handling conflicts and/or sensitive or confidential data and information, and payroll & timekeeping issues. |
